Mission Beach at Tropical North Queensland

The weather is definitely heating up, here in North Queensland. Arriving at Mission Beach in the middle of a hot day had us craving for a nice long soak in the ocean and that's exactly what we did as soon as we unhitched. We stayed at the council run caravan park which is directly on the beach and cheaper than the one across the road from the beach, go figure! Maybe the other park had a pool but who needs that when you have the ocean and maybe the amenities were slightly better but none of this worried us and we spent three splendid days on the sun soaked beach and strolling the markets on the Sunday. The stalls were so unusual and filled with gorgeous bits and pieces complete with heavenly Thai Takeaway.

The beach is completely lined with palm trees which I'm sure would have looked even more impressive pre cyclone Yasi and even now, still looks beautiful. The trees provided plenty of shade for me to watch the kids swim after I was finished and I even joined a couple of girls going through their yoga poses one day, it felt so good and I have vowed that I will keep it up because it has been too long in between sessions for me. In one particular spot at the beach there was, allegedly, an abundance of stingrays and you couldn't step into the water without standing on one. I wasn't present for that particular beach walk but according to Cam and co, it was an incredible sight.

Our next stop is not clear to us yet but it will be somewhere between Mission Beach and Townsville.
